Shoreditch Town Hall

Capital Project

The Brief

As Head of Production at Shoreditch Town Hall, The Production Family's founders led a significant period of investment, growth and operational development within one of London's most distinctive cultural venues. Working across a Grade II listed building with performance and event spaces spanning four floors, the role combined strategic capital development with the day-to-day delivery of an ambitious artistic and commercial programme.

Over the course of the programme, we established and developed the venue's Production Department, introduced new technical infrastructure, and supported the organisation's evolution into a thriving destination for theatre, live performance, music and commercial events.

Project Highlights

We were responsible for the strategic development of the venue's production capabilities and technical infrastructure. This included:

  • Creating and developing the Production Department.
  • Managing performance and event spaces across four levels of the building.
  • Overseeing building-wide investment in equipment and infrastructure.
  • Supporting an annual programme of more than 70 incoming productions and events.
  • Developing technical systems and operational procedures.
  • Supporting the venue's expansion into live music and commercial events.
  • Delivering capital projects while maintaining live operations.

At the heart of the project was a major programme of investment designed to improve the venue's long-term operational capability. Working closely with the wider organisation, the programme focused on creating lasting infrastructure that would support future artistic programmes, commercial hires and public events.

The work required careful coordination within the constraints of the Grade II listed building, ensuring that improvements respected the historic fabric of the Town Hall while delivering contemporary technical facilities capable of supporting increasingly ambitious productions. Throughout the programme, the building remained operational, continuing to welcome artists, audiences and commercial clients.
